Honoured at the House of Commons & RCOG London
Dr. Fehmida Shaikh delivers an address from the historic carved podium at the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists London, following a presidential felicitation at the Palace of Westminster.

The first few months of pregnancy raise a lot of questions. Here is a calm, plain-language walk-through of what is actually happening and what to expect.
What is happening in the first trimester
The first trimester covers weeks one through twelve, and it's when your baby's major organs begin to form. It is also when morning sickness, fatigue and other early symptoms are most common.
Every pregnancy progresses a little differently, so try not to compare your symptoms too closely with anyone else's.
The first trimester is often the hardest and the least visible. Be patient with yourself.
What your first few appointments cover
Your early antenatal visits typically include:
Confirming your pregnancy and estimated due date
An early ultrasound scan
Blood tests and general health screening
A discussion of your medical history, and guidance on diet, supplements and what to avoid
If something feels off, it is always worth a call. Dr. Fehmida Shaikh would rather you ask than worry alone.
