A Guide to Postpartum Recovery
The weeks after delivery bring their own changes. Here is how postpartum recovery works, physically and emotionally.

Recovery after delivery is its own journey, and it deserves as much attention as the pregnancy itself.
What your body is doing after delivery
Whether you had a normal delivery or a C-section, your body needs time to heal. Bleeding, soreness and fatigue are normal in the first few weeks, but it helps to know what is expected and what is not.
Recovery is not a race. Every mother heals at her own pace.
Looking after yourself in the fourth trimester
A few things make the postpartum period easier to manage:
Attend your postnatal check-up, even if you feel fine
Watch for signs that need a doctor's attention, like heavy bleeding or fever
Give yourself permission to rest and accept help
Ask about pelvic floor recovery and when to resume activity
You do not have to figure postpartum recovery out alone. Dr. Fehmida Shaikh and the team are here for the fourth trimester too.
