When should a couple seek professional fertility evaluation?
Couples should seek evaluation if pregnancy has not occurred after 12 months of regular unprotected intercourse (or after 6 months if the female partner is 35 or older), or immediately if there is a known history of irregular cycles, pelvic surgery, or male factor issues.
What does the initial fertility assessment involve?
The assessment evaluates both partners simultaneously. For women, it includes ovulation assessment, hormonal profiling (AMH, FSH, thyroid, prolactin), pelvic ultrasound, and tubal patency testing. For men, comprehensive semen analysis is performed in our in-house andrology lab.
What in-house fertility treatments are available at Fehmida Hospital?
We provide fertility counselling, ovulation induction with cycle tracking, in-house semen analysis and sperm wash, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), semen cryopreservation, and laparoscopic corrective surgery for tubal blockage, endometriosis, or fibroids.
How does Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) work?
IUI involves preparing and concentrating the most motile, healthy sperm in our andrology laboratory and placing them directly into the uterine cavity near the time of ovulation, significantly enhancing fertilisation chances.
How are advanced treatments like IVF and ICSI coordinated?
Dr. Fehmida Shaikh conducts all preliminary work-ups, ovulation protocols, and counselling at Fehmida Hospital, coordinating advanced laboratory procedures like IVF and ICSI seamlessly through her affiliated network including Surya Hospital (Santacruz).
Does Fehmida Hospital have an in-house male fertility laboratory?
Yes. We maintain a dedicated in-house Male Infertility & Andrology Laboratory providing semen analysis (count, motility, morphology), semen wash and preparation for IUI, and semen freezing facilities.
