Why lifestyle matters in PCOS
PCOS is linked with insulin resistance. Many women find that even a modest weight loss improves periods, skin and the chance of ovulating.
Food
- Fill half your plate with vegetables
- Choose whole grains, dal and millets over refined flour and white rice
- Cut down on sugary drinks, sweets and fried snacks
- Eat regular meals rather than skipping and overeating later
Movement and sleep
- Aim for around 30 minutes of activity on most days; brisk walking counts
- Add simple strength exercises twice a week
- Keep a regular sleep routine of 7–8 hours
Medical care still matters
Lifestyle changes work alongside medical care, not instead of it. Your doctor can help with irregular periods, acne, excess hair and planning a pregnancy.
